Greek and European Economy Programme
The Greek and European Economy programme, formerly known as the Greek and European Economy Observatory (2019-2024), promotes the understanding of contemporary economic policy issues facing Europe and Greece. The programme continues the work of the Crisis Observatory (2013-2019).
The programme has been financially supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (2013-2015), the Stavros Costopoulos Foundation (2020-2021), and the A.G. Leventis Foundation (since 2017). Since 2023, core funding for the programme is provided by a grant from the A.G. Leventis Foundation.

Understanding the Greek Crisis
The section “Understanding the Greek Crisis” provides informational material about the crisis, presented in a format that is simple, comprehensible and appealing to the general public. Our aim is to present the Greek crisis in a way that can be understood by everyone, even if you don’t have advanced economic knowledge. More specifically, in this section visitors will find an animated video (in Greek) and a slideshow. Both applications present a combination of quantitative information and analysis of the problems that led to the crisis in Greece, as well as the crisis management policies, and their consequences until today.
Crisis Timeline
The Crisis Timeline presents all the important events that determined the course of both the Greek crisis and the European debt crisis, from 2008 to this day.
